This condition is more common in boys. The experts say that males are four times higher than the female. However, out of a thousand children as many as six will have the Autistic Disorder. The children that have been identified with having Autism in 2010 was high. The diagnoses of the disorder will be higher this year. The opinion is that it will be higher than several other diseases put together.
This disorder is a mental connection that deals with the child’s brain. Such problems as anxiety, socialization and problems communicating with others. Even though it is not certain what takes place or the cause. However, there are a few different experiments in place in hope of finding the reason.
Some children have “schizophrenia” which is social isolation, disorganized speech, delusions and behavior. Although those with “schizophrenia” may show some autistic signs at a younger age. Other symptoms may not appear until they are teens or young adults. Other indications of autism are their response to loud sounds and repetitiveness. Some that have the disorder may turn around or rock repetitively. Some will be hurtful to themselves. Doing harm by pinching, biting and hitting their heads on things. They may also have some delay in speech. Also they in reference to their self may say their name instead of words as “I” or “me.” For example, ” Bobby is hungry – (I am hungry.) or Darlene wants an apple.” – (I want an apple.)
There may even be some difficulty in seeing. According the researchers they may have problems finding certain items in the bedroom or market. Which will create problems as an adult concerning their independence. However, there are different degrees of Autism (ASD). Some will cope easier than others. The most severe form is known as Classical Autism.
ASD creates a higher chance of other developmental problems or connections to other conditions. Some of these are brain tumors (Tuberous Sclerosis), seizures such as Epileptic, ADD, Fragile X syndrome ( mental delays) and Tourette syndrome. By the time they are adults 20 to 30 percent will have epilepsy.
Children with a milder case of ASD may have symptoms that are not noticed. In diagnosing Autism at an earlier age take note of these symptoms. A child should be doing these by age one, making noises or pointing at things. They should be saying single words by age sixteen months and putting two words together by age two. Others are not responding to their name, and a less contact with the eyes. Another is placing their toys or objects in a limitless order. More symptoms for later age are difficulty in playing with or making friends and having a conversation. The inability to focus or be devoted to any routines.
With some children the symptoms will get better with age and treatment. Although they will continue to need help and support even when they are older. Which means there are some that will be able to live and work with some support.
Autism is treated with theory and different prescription medications. The medications are for symptoms such as obsessive- compulsive disorder, anxiety or depression. Medications for IDD are also used and medicine for seizures.
With the studies that are taking place there is hope that a more productive treatment will be found.
